Kombucha: My Wonder Drink

A friend of mine decided to take a break from drinking for a few weeks. Sounds hard right? But what's interesting is the tip she shared with me for a good substitute - something that will keep you from reaching for that glass of wine or amber beer when you're out to dinner and trying to cut back on the carbs. It's Kombucha! A very weird but very yummy and helpful drink.

Kombucha has a long history dating back to 19th century Russia, but its popularity has very quickly taken off here in the states. The drink is made out of a mix of yeast and bacteria, tea, and sugar.

The taste is interesting - it's slightly fizzy, flavorfull, and a mixture of sour (like a lemon) and slightly sweet. And it's not for everyone: some people try it and hate it and others get addicted to it!

Some of the benefits of Kombucha that have been documented include better eyesight, better skin, eases symptoms of certain illnesses like carpal tunnel, and aids in digestion.

Some benefits that we have seen include helping us feel full when we want to over-eat, smoothing stomach aches, helping us feel more alert, and improving our overall mood. It also helps, as my friend suggested, if you're trying to avoid alcohol (Kombucha has .05 percent alcohol, which probably satisfies some of the cravings).

My favorite brand is GTS' Synergy in the flavors including gingerberry, original or citrus.

Have you tried Kombucha? What's your favorite brand and flavor?

  1. I was married at 32 and immediately tried to get pregnant. When I was unable to conceive I had blood tests for fertility and was told that I had an FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) of 54 and would not be able to have children. Even though the doctors knew that I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis since age 25, no one bothered to check my thyroid levels. my TSH was measured at .001. My Synthroid dosage was lowered. a friend advise me to contact a spiritualist who help with fertility with his medicine, i collected his contact and explain my situation to him he prepared for me a herbal medicine which i took as describe by him. became pregnant very quickly, I had a successful pregnancy. I have my baby august 2017. to get pregnant at age 35 with my 2nd child in september 2019, thank you sir , this is his email contact if you require his help babaka.wolf@gmail.com or Facebook at priest.babaka
