These days we’re all busy....
But it’s important to take the time to keep your health in
check.
Exercise and eating healthy aren’t the only things on the
list either—
Check out the below few topics that wellness experts say are key items to stay on top of in order to stay ahead of your personal health game. Stay healthy! And have a happy monday! J
1. What’s your blood
pressure?
Did you know that high blood pressure is the #1 risk factor
for strokes in women? A healthy blood pressure number for women is around
120/80. Check your blood pressure to see where you stand, and visit your primary
care physician if you notice any changes or have a number drastically outside
of the range.
2. Are you managing
your stress?
Stress is bad for health. Duh! Stress is not just bad for
your daily health, but it can lead to other health issues down the line. A recent study shows
that women who experience high levels in stress in their middle ages (think
30s, 40s, and 50s) are more likely to develop dementia in the future. Time to
get stress in check! If you haven’t tried meditating, exercising, yoga or deep
breathing exercises, now’s a perfect time. If these methods aren’t doing the
trick, a lot of women have found success with acupuncture and other non-conventional
techniques. The important part is that you learn to create and manage a balance
and don’t let stress get the best of you.
3. Breath Clean Air!
More than 20,000 US citizens are hospitalized a year from
inhaling Carbon Monoxide! Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless, and extremely
toxic. Make sure your home is equipped with a Carbon Monoxide detector so that
you’re aware if levels increase and you become in danger of breathing this
harmful gas.
4. Soak up that sun--
or get your Vitamin D elsewhere!
It only takes 10-15 minutes of sunshine exposure 3 times a
week to meet your Vitamin D requirements. Vitamin D is so important! Your body
needs enough Vitamin D to absorb calcium, to promote bone growth, and a ton of
other important body functions. Check with your Doctor during your next yearly
physical to make sure you’re taking in enough of this crucial nutrient. And if
you’re not, ask the Doc to prescribe you a vacation in the sun!
